CSIO accepts students desirous of full-time, continuous, on-site training who are studying:

• ME/ MTech/ MSc/ MS/ BE/ BTech Final Year, 6 months to 1 year training duration

• BE/BTech 2nd/ 3rd Year, Short-Term Training, 6 to 8 weeks training duration

Requirements:

Your University/ Institution must fall in the first 100 of the NIRF 2025 overall ranking(please see https://www.nirfindia.org/Rankings/2025/OverallRanking.html) OR your Institute must have an MOU with CSIR-CSIO or permission of the Director CSIR-CSIO Chandigarh

• Students wishing to train with CSIO for a period of 6 weeks/ 6 months  will need to bring a signed and stamped printout of an IPR disclaimer. Click here to download the form.

• Letter of Recommendation on Letter head from college/ University with signed and stamped, mentioned training duration with dates (Original)

• They are also advised to thoroughly explore our website, particularly the "Research" and "Achievements" menu options, to gain an understanding of the ongoing research projects at the lab. This will enable them to specify the division and the scientist, with whom they wish to join at the time of application. These pages include recent publications of researchers

• Original and photocopy of both sides of the college ID card and the Aadhar card.

• Latest one Passport size photograph.

• Original and photocopy of only ONE marksheet, the last available semester's marksheet. For example, a student wishing to intern in the seventh semester must bring the sixth-semester marksheet. In case only a printout from the University website is possible, the printout must be signed and stamped by the college authorities.

Training duration should be a minimum of 6 weeks, and the overall required CGPA is 6.0 for training in CSIO.

How to apply

Students are advised to send an email with resume to the concerned scientist/guide with their resume, training duration and start date and cc to the training cell (training.csio@csir.res.in). (Refer Scientist and Their Areas of Work) [594KB] to choose the mentor).

The training cell will process your application after getting consent from the concerned scientist/guide.

Once the Scientist mentor has given his consent, training cell will send training confirmation email to the concerned mentor and student after getting approval from competent authority.

Conditions of Training

1. The training must be completed in one stretch and is full-time and on-site

2. CSIO has a five day week, and lab timings are from 9 am to 5.30 pm. Students are expected to report on time and may not leave the lab before closing time

3. No leave of absence will be permitted, particularly for MTech trainees

4. No extension in the training period will be entertained

Selection procedure:

• CSIO has a flexible selection procedure for each session, based primarily on the requirement from our scientists and the applicants.

Preference will be given to students from Institutes of National Importance and Centrally Funded Technical Institutions.

Cost:

• There is no cost involved

Hostel Accommodation:

• No hostel accommodation is available for students
